2017 Driver Of The Year Award To Kenneth Mulgrew of Robert M. Neff, Inc.

The Ohio Trucking Association Names Kenneth Mulgrew of Robert M. Neff, Inc. as the 2017 Driver of the Year

On April 20, 2018, the Ohio Trucking Association named Kenneth Mulgrew of Robert M. Neff, Inc. as the 2017 Ohio Trucking Association’s Driver of the Year at the annual Driver of the Year Banquet, presented by Great West Casualty Company.

Each year, Ohio Trucking Association members are encouraged to nominate their safest drivers in hopes of walking away with the coveted Driver of the Year Super-Bowl style ring, allowing them to join the ranks of past Drivers of the Year. Each of the twelve finalists, as well as their company, is awarded a plaque in recognition of their outstanding career. These 12 finalists were chosen from a field of excellent nominees that were judged by individuals representing the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Kenny was employed with Robert M. Neff, Inc. for 39 years and had driven more than 3.8 million accident and incident free miles before his retirement in January 2018. Kenny was hired by the company’s founder and saw the company transition through generations of management, supporting and working alongside them. He also served as a driver trainer for new drivers based out of the company’s Cleveland operation.

When Dante Berkheimer of Robert M. Neff, Inc. introduced Kenny to the banquet audience, he shared that Kenny has always been willing to go above and beyond his duties: “On March 9, 2017, our trucks were in danger of being damaged due to a three-alarm fire at the warehouse next door to our Cleveland yard. Kenny, along with another employee, sprang into action and removed all of our tractors out of harm’s way, and gave the fire department access to our yard to route hoses through to fight the fire. There was no hesitation…he just made it happen. We did not know about the fire until after the fact. Kenny once again saved us from certain property damage without wanting recognition….this shows exactly the type of person he is….Kenny has carried himself as a true professional and represented our company with the highest respect.”

The Ohio Trucking Association would like to congratulate Kenny on this accomplishment and thank him for his years of service to the industry.

The Ohio Trucking Association is a trade association with over 800 members. Founded in 1918, the association promotes safety, innovation, and professionalism in the trucking industry.
